Marcia here with a quick update.
Gary and Anne saw Dr. Tseng today and he was more than happy that Gary was not in the hospital. When he arrived home from his vacation on Sunday (at midnight), the first thing he did was check the hospital list to see if Gary was on it.
Next:
Gary has another swallow test on Thursday. This is to confirm that he is ready to start “eating” again. Everyone agrees that it is important to take it slow and Dr. Tseng wants him to start with only liquids. They’ll see him again next Tuesday.
Good to see the whole family out for a walk the other day. Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction. Hope to bump into you soon.
Good news! I have to admit to wondering why they didn’t take it this slow in the beginning, starting with just liquids. In an email exchange with Anne yesterday, I expressed hope that you can have at least a little turkey gravy on Thanksgiving! That’s sort of liquid, isn’t it? 🙂
It is nice to be able to walk around a bit. I don’t have much stamina, but I am able to get around more. Thank Indie for the hand made card she sent me while I was in the hospital. It was greatly appreciated.
My guess is that by Thanksgiving I will be allowed to eat soft foods. There ought to be something I can eat. And even if there isn’t, I enjoy watching other people eat. It’s a vicarious sort of thing. You’d think I wouldn’t want to watch people eat, but I do. What I’m currently excited about is Häagen-Dazs® ice cream is considered OK for the liquid diet.
