Here I am again at the Knight Cancer Center (Pacific Oncology) attached to another IV drip.
As you can see, it had to be plugged into my arm since there is no longer a port. I had the port removed about six weeks ago.
The reason for my return to Borg reality is because my red blood count is low. I am getting a massive infusion of iron, which is known for building red blood cells.
If this works, and it should, I will will feel better and have less fatigue.
The whole process takes four hours, so I should be out of here in about fifteen minutes.
This is good other than it is hot outside and I’m rather enjoying the air conditioning. The cool comfort almost makes it worth being hooked up to a tube.
What, no Ironman references?
Wow you almost gave me a heart attack buddy; the iv freaked me out! I am SO SO glad it’s just for those *&% platelets again! I just bet you overdid the margaritas over the 4th!
We had a good holiday and are heading up to beautiful New England where it should be a balmy 87 degrees. Stay cool and no running marathons!!!
Cheers!
Louise and Don
Damn! I totally missed the Iron Man reference. Perhaps that’s because I’m not particularly feeling like Iron Man these days.
I don’t think it was the margaritas. Apparently if you don’t have a stomach your body has trouble metabolizing iron, which makes you anemic. We’re looking into alternatives to my having to regularly get stabbed with an IV needle.
I understand from Anne that liver & onions isn’t your thing. Too bad. When provided by a greasy spoon diner, it can be delicious. Good luck getting your body to absorb the iron. I agree a nice big, juicy steak would be preferable to liver, though. So good to see you again and in such good spirits!
I’ll take a steak over liver any day. Actually, I’ll take anything over liver any day.
Greetings! I’ve been following your site for a while now and finally got the courage to go ahead and give you a shout out from Atascocita Texas! Just wanted to say keep up the excellent job!
