Hi, Marcia here with a quick update on the Olsons.
I would have loved to do something creative with this post (a nice Haiku comes to mind), but you’re getting the following instead.
Anne and Gary met with Dr. Tseng yesterday and it was decided that Gary’s feeding tube would remain in for now, just in case he needs it after he’s finished with his chemo.
He was scheduled for Picard’s dose today but didn’t end up getting it. This was due to low platelet and white and red blood cell counts, low blood pressure, mouth sores, etc. This will give him a little extra time between treatments so he can be ready for his last mega dose next Wednesday.
As always, good energy, thoughts, and prayers are appreciated.
So are Haikus.
Oh dear! All those good things are floating your way. Louise – more dancing please! 🙂 Thanks for the posts, Marcia. And good luck Gary in getting ready for the next (final?) dose!
A Haiku for Gary
May laughter and love
embrace you when its darkest
and fill you with light.
Here is my first ever attempt at Haiku. It’s probably not exactly what Marcia had in mind.
.
tummy trembles before the storm
retching guts will not contain
curse the barf goddess
That’s very nice. I can feel the embrace of the love, the laughter doesn’t visits as frequently. Thanks.
The next dose is the final BIG chemo. There are two more less powerful ones after that.
Well, Haiku tends to be seasonal in nature so we will consider this your winter Haiku, or perhaps I should say your “Winter of our discontent” Haiku. I will look forward to your spring Haiku.
You do get an A for both your alliteration and your onomatopoetic efforts.
My dancing continues big time!!! I am SO better at this than trying to think of a good Haiku (which I had to google!), but obviously I need to jump (get it?!) it up!! So, I have added jumping jacks to my dance! Take THAT, you %$#* low counts and mouth sores!! NIH you better not have put my resume in the circular file. I know where you are and if I have to come down there it WON’T be pretty.
We are all counting the days until at least the BIG chemo. is over and SO hope it and the next 2 are pieces of cake which you’ll be craving!
LOVE YA
